Brazil should become the world's largest corn exporter in 2023, according to projections by AgRural consultancy and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Shipments may exceed 47 million tons of grain, a volume 10% higher than that recorded in the previous year.

The country has increased the pace of cereal exports in recent years. In 2021, corn generated revenue of US$ 4.2 billion with 20.49 million tons exported. In the following year, shipments practically doubled and reached a record 43.17 million tons of grain and revenue tripled to US$ 12.3 billion.

In the first quarter, shipments continued to rise, with almost 10 million tons of corn sold in the global market. The volume represents almost three times more than that exported in the same period last year, when 3.5 million tons of cereal were exported, driven by the fall in the Argentine crop due to the drought.
